AnnouncementsU.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to Host Teleconference on Citizenship and Integration Grant Program, March 16, 2016.USCIS invites you to participate in a teleconference on Wednesday, March 16, 2016, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. (ET) to discuss the Notices of Funding Opportunity for the fiscal year 2016 Citizenship and Integration Grant Program. USCIS posted two grant funding opportunity announcements on March 2, and all applications are due by April 22. During this teleconference, USCIS officials will provide an overview of the grant program and answer questions about the application requirements and process.

ED LogoU.S. Department of Education Announces Increase of Funding to Help Native American Youth Become College and Career Ready. The Department is planning to more than triple—from $5.3 million to $17.4 million—the availability of relevant funding. The extra support is being provided for Native Youth Community Projects (NYCP) as an ongoing step toward implementing President Obama’s commitment to improving the lives of American Indian and Alaskan Native children. The grants will support the President’s Generation Indigenous “Gen I”Initiative.

U.S. Department of Education Recognizes#GoOpen Initiatives. The Department announced the launch of 14 state-wide #GoOpen initiatives committed to supporting school districts and educators as they transition to the use of high-quality, openly-licensed educational resources in their schools. This inaugural cohort of #GoOpen states joins leaders from an expanding number of #GoOpen districts and innovative platform providers in creating an environment where educators and students can access the tools, content, and expertise necessary to thrive in a connected world.

National Center for Education Research (NCER), Institute for Education Sciences (IES), OffersSummer Research Training Institute, July 18-28, 2016, at Northwestern University. NCER hosts this training institute to increase the capacity of researchers to develop and conduct rigorous evaluations of the impacts that education interventions have on student outcomes.
