I am proud of my former student Kent!

Congratulations to our own Kimberly Swan Burch

Read her success story of how she became a leader be being an excellent teacher:

This past week I finish up my mini unit on debates. This was my first time ever teaching the debate process to 8th grade students. For our summative assessment, each student was given a topic and a side to argue. They were given time in the computer lab to research and find facts to would support their side, and find facts that could put the other side down. My principal was so impressed with my lessons and my students dedication that not only did he come to observe them debate in class, he also asked another Language Arts teacher to come watch my class debates later in the day. My principals parting words were that he was so blown away by my ability to teach debate and that he could see that I had a drive for both teaching and the well being of my students!

Catherine Piatt presenting a session at the National Reading Recovery and K-6 Literacy Conference

Catherine Piatt shared:

I am so excited to be presenting a session at the National Reading Recovery and K-6 Literacy Conference next Monday in Columbus, OH. The session is called Early Learners: Linking Reading and Writing. So in addition to working full time and 2 graduate classes, this week will be full of finishing touches to my presentation. I’ve given it twice before, but have some tweaks to make for sure. Wish me luck!

Let’s all congratulate her to her success!
