ELS and Language Learning: Articles and Apps for Classrooms

Shared by a KY teacher:

This month’s NEA had some great articles and apps that I wanted to share.

My fave: Ready…Set…Read! Help your students become lifelong readers

Professional Development: It’s time for change

Aging Schools Create dangerous and fragile learning environments

Popplet: allows you to post, curate, and collaborate all in one visual place. An excellent way to make homework fun and collaborate on group projects. www.popplet.com

Toontastic: bring student art to life through cartoons. Students can reate a quick 5-minute cartoon complete with music, pre-made or createble backgrounds, and characters. (iTunes) link

Storykit: Students create their own books and record themselves reading them. The app includes four public domain children’s books that you can rewrite and rearrange into a new story with your students. (iTunes) link
